What is a merch tag?

 

Our merch tags are small NFC tags that are attached to certain items in Merch Central. These tags use blockchain technology to bridge the physical items to the digital world. The tags also serve as a way to authenticate Swan Hockey merchandise and validate your ownership of it.

 

Why blockchain?

 

Blockchain technology is just a way of recording transactions and recording assets. It’s completely immutable. Sure it can seem overwhelming at first, but just like most things, it becomes simple once you understand it. 

 

What do merch tags get me?

 

These tags include a number of benefits! They include:

 

• Proof of purchase and ownership

• Product authentication

• Exclusive content

• A means of communication between Swan Hockey and product owners

• Access to giveaways

• Many items will have NFTs attached for you to claim

• Rewards points towards our FREE rewards program, Performance Pass 2024

 

What do I need to scan a tag?

 

In order to scan a merch tag, you will need the Berify app and a digital wallet such as MetaMask or Coinbase. Your digital wallet is where you will claim the NFT’s to in order to have a seamless experience across Swan Hockey Digital. If you are not claiming an NFT at the moment, you will just need the Berify app. Many of the benefits of the tags are able to be experienced right through the Berify app.

Berify is the company behind the Swan Hockey merch tags. Their technology is what enables us to do what we do with our products; authenticate, provide content, and bridge physical to digital. Download the Berify app to start scanning the tags!

How do I get a wallet and how do I Keep it safe?

 

You can download a MetaMask or Coinbase wallet. Very Important*** Never share your seed phrase(12 word secret recovery phrase) with anyone. Write it down multiple times and keep it in a safe place. Do not take a screenshot or picture of it and do not store it on your computer. We will never ask for your seed phrase nor should anyone else, ever! Do not connect your wallet to random, unfamiliar websites.

 

 

Where can I find the tags and what do they look like?

In most cases, for apparel, tags are located on the lower right hand corner of the item. For items bought from Merch Central, you will see in the items description if the item is tagged or not.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

How do I scan a merch tag?

 

Step 1: Download the Berify app and follow the on screen instruction to create your account.

Step 2: Download and set up a MetaMask wallet(other wallets will work). This step is required for a seamless experience within Swan Hockey Digital when claiming an NFT from your item.

Step 3: Open the Berify app and scan your merch tag. For Android users, be sure your NFC scanning is enabled.

 

How do I claim the NFT attached to my merch?

 

Step 1: After Scanning the tag, click show NFT, redeem NFT, then select MetaMask(other wallets will also work).

Step 2: Your wallet will then open. Return to the Berify app immediately and click to transfer the token to your wallet.

Using your wallets Web 3 browser:

Step 1: Click your profile icon in the upper right hand corner

Step 2: Click on the drop down menu that shows the networks

Step 3: Choose the network you want to use(Polygon Mainnet or Ethereum Mainnet for tokens related to Swan Hockey

Please note: if the network you want to use is not displaying, you may need to select "Add Network"

Also note: Hockey Swans are on the Ethereum Network while Performance Pass 2024 and Berify tokens are on the Polygon network.
